Farm Jupiter is a full-cycle dairy farm
Pre-war situation
We had 350 dairy cows, 300 hectares of agricultural land, and all necessary equipment for cultivation and storing cow feed worth more than 300 000 euros. Danone and The City Dairy Factory-Kitchen of Baby Food were our wholesale milk buyers. In December 2021, the School-workshop of confectionery and cheese art began its work
Effect of the war
We have suffered significant losses:
- absence of the necessary components for the formation of the fodder ration
- livestock was reduced by 50% so others could survive (it was a hard decision)
- 12 months of 2023 will be non-profitable
- the logistic connection is damaged (without bridges and a long period for their repair)
- reducing the daily volume of milk to 700 liters (almost 90% compared to December 2021, 7000 liters)
At the same time, we have not stopped to help:
- relocation of the area’s residents as shelling continues
- the community’s population is provided with a wide range of bakery and dairy products (on a volunteer basis)
- help the population during the blackout periods, providing charging gadgets and water supplies
Resulting challenges
- the level of costs of maintaining a dairy farm significantly exceeds the income level
- the available feed is not enough to survive until the new crop
- the cheese production shop does not work due to the loss of a technologist
The sought-for solution
- to perform livestock sanitation
- to leave 400 heads of calves, young animals, and dairy cows
- it is necessary to purchase feed and supplements for them
- a cheese-making consultant is needed to resume aged cheese production
