Gnizdo is a Ukrainian sustainable brand of home textiles and clothing made from natural linen

Pre-war situation

Before the war, brand “Gnizdo” was actively developing in Ukraine. We primarily sold our products within Ukraine and participated in various Ukrainian pop-up markets. Our focus was on creating high-quality products tailored to the local market, building strong relationships with our customers. Our team worked diligently on expanding our product range and enhancing services, which helped us secure a strong position among competitors and gain a loyal audience.

Effect of the war

We lost our workers in Kharkiv as they had to leave the area, which led to a halt in production. However, after two months, we began translating our website into English and made efforts to sell our products internationally. We found seamstresses in safer parts of Ukraine and resumed production with very small orders. The war increased the popularity of Ukrainian products among Europeans and Ukrainians living in Europe. With the help of marketing and grants and international donors we continued to produce clothes and textiles, boosting our orders. We participated in various pop-up markets and exhibitions across Europe, and sought connections with showrooms. Now, we aim to further boost our business and expand our sales to European markets through exports.

Resulting challenges

Supply Chain Disruptions: The relocation of workers and suppliers has caused delays and inconsistencies in our production process.

Logistical Issues: Shipping products within and outside Ukraine has become more complex and costly due to the ongoing conflict.

Limited Workforce: Finding skilled seamstresses in safe areas is a continuous challenge, impacting our production capacity.

Market Uncertainty: The fluctuating political and economic situation in Ukraine and Europe affects consumer confidence and demand.

Increased Costs: Rising costs of materials and logistics strain our budget, making it difficult to maintain affordable pricing.

Marketing and Brand Awareness: Expanding into new markets requires substantial marketing efforts and resources to build brand recognition and trust among new customers.

Financial Constraints: While grants and marketing aids have helped, securing continuous funding remains critical for sustained growth and expansion.
